Jefferson County commissioners approved a service agreement with Rocky Mountain Power to add electrical service to a new shop at the county landfill. Solid Waste staff presented the agreement and asked the board to select the billing option; staff recommended taking a $250 credit rather than the longer refund option because additional customers are unlikely to connect to that line.
The contract’s one-time construction/connection charge presented during the meeting was $8,850.18 (documented in the utility agreement), and Solid Waste staff said Rocky Mountain Power would cover roughly one-third of the cost while the county pays the remainder. Commissioners moved and seconded approval and signed the customer acknowledgment on the agreement during the meeting.
Why it matters: the new electrical service will allow the landfill shop to be powered for equipment and operations; the board authorized use of landfill capital funds to pay the fee and directed staff to file the agreement and proceed with trenching and meter work as required by the utility.
Commissioners also asked staff to keep a copy of the signed agreement in county records.
