Obion County Board approves vendor bids and service contracts for 2025–26 school year

The Obion County Board of Education approved several procurement actions June 30 that set vendor arrangements for the 2025–26 school year, Director Tim Watkins told the board.

Bids for janitorial supplies were solicited from J.D. Distributors, American Paper and Twine, Central Poly and JC Educational; the board approved the lowest bid per item that met specifications after Director Watkins’ recommendation. For duplicating paper the board accepted the low, compliant bid from American Paper and Twine for $25,585 for 9,500 reams. The minutes record competing bids from Lanzer, Inc. ($32,300) and Liberty Paper ($29,868).

For waste and trash disposal the board accepted the lowest compliant monthly bid from Republic Services at $2,250.21 per month; Waste Pro’s monthly bid was $4,870.00 and Platform Waste bid $4,181.23. The minutes note the board’s intent that no liability will be incurred nor a purchase order issued until the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2025.

Separately the board approved renewal of the Connected Building Service Agreement with TRANE, based on Director Watkins’ recommendation. Each procurement motion was made and seconded by board members and recorded in the minutes as “MOTION CARRIED.”

The board’s approvals establish vendor relationships and pricing for routine supplies and services ahead of the new school year; the minutes do not record any additional conditions or bid protests.
