County approves ADA restroom renovations at Allocate Annex using permanent-improvement funds

The Wichita County Commissioners Court on Aug. 26 approved Mars Patriot Construction proposal No. 18 to renovate the men’s and women’s restrooms at the Allocate Annex to meet ADA requirements. The work will be paid from previously allocated permanent-improvement funds, with specific line assignments to be determined by the county auditor.

County staff explained the scope is limited to functional ADA compliance and not higher-end finishes: a new vinyl floor, tile backsplash behind sinks, replacement toilets and partitions, and repair of wall issues. The proposal was described as significantly less costly than earlier estimates that had anticipated larger finishes.

Commissioners asked whether funds would come from the project contingency; staff confirmed the work will be paid from contingency funds remaining in the overall project budget. The court approved the proposal 5-0.

Staff said the partitions had already been ordered as a separate procurement action to ensure ADA-compliant installation, and that the work targets only the remaining unrefreshed spaces in the building.
