Commission to consider National Register nomination for Chautauqua Park Ridgewood at next meeting; state review set for Oct. 10

Staff told the commission that the Chautauqua Park Ridgewood nomination for the National Register of Historic Places will be on the commission’s agenda at its next meeting and that staff and the project consultant will attend the State Nominations Review Committee meeting on Oct. 10. The nomination must be reviewed by the state committee before it is forwarded to the National Park Service for final determination.

Staff said commission members do not need to attend the state nomination review committee meeting because staff and the consultant will represent the nomination, though the meeting is open to the public. The state review committee’s recommendations may prompt revisions before the nomination is forwarded to the National Park Service for a final decision.

No vote or formal action was taken on the nomination at this meeting; staff framed this as the next step in the review process and said they would notify interested parties.
