The Dickinson School Board approved a set of personnel contracts, district policies and student handbooks and took several routine administrative votes during its meeting.
The board voted to renew the superintendent’s contract for a 2025–2027 term as presented. The motion to approve the superintendent contract was moved by Mister Seeks and seconded; a roll-call vote recorded “aye” votes and the motion carried. The board also approved a 2025–2026 contract for assistant superintendent Natalie Catheryn following an evaluation the board described as “satisfactory in all areas,” and renewed the business manager’s work agreement after a motion and roll-call vote.
In other formal actions the board approved the 2024–25 average daily membership report and the 2024–25 transportation routes report and moved the routes to the public posting process. The board adopted board regulation DEBH–BR (district social media accounts) on first reading and final adoption, and approved board policies JCA (memorials on school property) and DEBH (employee use of social media) for first reading. The board additionally approved revisions to policy FMI (personal electronic communication devices) and expedited the second reading per policy BDA so the device prohibition will take effect for the coming school year.
The board approved the 2025–26 student handbooks — including the early childhood program, elementary, Dickinson Middle School and the high school handbook as amended — and discussed highlights for parents. The handbooks specify that personal electronic devices must be turned off and stowed during the school day, and that each school will implement detailed procedures and discipline processes appropriate to their building. Transportation start times will shift to shorten some routes: the district indicated elementary schools will start about five minutes earlier while the middle school start time will be about 24 minutes later. The district also is switching its mass notification system from SWISK 12 to School Messenger because SWISK 12 is being discontinued, and the Dickinson High School handbook now includes a policy note about a therapy dog at DHS.
All motions recorded at the meeting carried, with roll-call votes announced during the meeting.
