District staff presented a monthly construction update on the new high school project, saying earthwork and excavation are complete and concrete work — including footings, column pads and footing walls — is underway.
The presenter said the project team replaced a transformer and a gas meter recently; the transformer replacement required a temporary shutdown of power that briefly affected district internet access when the central office and high school lost electricity during the work. Staff displayed renderings and photos the district has posted to its website showing the building footprint and early work on an academic wing and column pads.
The presenter described site logistics: some existing storage/football sheds were moved or removed after the district found an entity willing to take the structure, and crews have been pouring footing walls and backfilling. The update included floor plans (three floors shown) and a bird’s-eye rendering illustrating the expected footprint. Staff said the academic wing work is progressing now and that subsequent phases will include choir, band and agricultural spaces.
Board members had no follow-up questions during the presentation.
