Board approves Number Worlds supplemental math curriculum for special education; $35,024 annual license

The Marshalltown Community School District board approved purchase of Number Worlds, a supplemental math curriculum from McGraw Hill intended for special-education students K–12.

Administrators told the board the purchase is an extension of the district’s existing Reveal math materials and represents an annual electronic-license and access cost of $35,023.68, to be paid from the special-education budget. Board members discussed that the materials had been used for coaching and that current staff support the renewal. The item had originally appeared on the consent agenda but was pulled for a standalone vote; the board approved the expenditure 5–0.
