Fiscal Court designates Georgetown Municipal Water & Sewer Service as agent for EPA community project funding

GEORGETOWN, Ky. — Scott County Fiscal Court on Aug. 28 approved Resolution 25‑14 designating Georgetown Municipal Water and Sewer Service (GMWSS) as the county’s agent for a $1,750,000 community project funding award intended for sanitary sewer planning and preconstruction in northern Scott County.

The resolution, read at the meeting and approved after a motion from Magistrate Ryan Pratt and a second from Magistrate Dwayne Ellison, authorizes GMWSS to coordinate planning, surveys, design, permitting and to execute necessary documents and certifications on behalf of the fiscal court for the project administered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

County staff said the designation is intended to streamline responses to EPA inquiries and to have a qualified technical manager execute project requirements. The funds were awarded through the FY2024 community project funding process via the congressional office of U.S. Rep. Andy Barr and will be used for preconstruction costs related to sewer improvements in Northern Scott County.
