Fort Huachuca to join CECOM JPA; will contribute $117,000 annually under 10-year agreement, city manager says

The City Manager told the Sierra Vista City Council on Aug. 14 that Fort Huachuca's application to join the CECOM Joint Powers Authority (JPA) was approved and that the installation will begin service on nights, weekends and holidays under a 10-year contract.

"The major activity there was to approve Fort Huachuca's application to become a member of CECOM, and they will be starting out on nights, weekends, and holidays," the City Manager said. He added that Fort Huachuca will contribute $117,000 annually, with inflation adjustments, as part of a 10-year agreement.

Council did not take separate formal action at the meeting on the JPA approval; the City Manager reported the JPA board meeting action and its anticipated operational impact. No further operational details or implementation timeline beyond the initial service schedule were provided at the council meeting.

The council was also informed earlier in the City Manager's report about regional cooperation matters, including a letter from the county Board of Supervisors expressing its intent to withdraw from the Upper San Pedro Partnership; the City Manager said other partnership activities continue.

The council did not vote on the Fort Huachuca/CECOM item during the Aug. 14 meeting; the City Manager presented the JPA board's action as informational.
