BROOKSHIRE, Texas ' The City Council voted Sept. 4 to relocate two unused 500-gallon diesel tanks from the police department lot to the public works site and put them into the city's disaster-fueling program.
Public Works Director Dr. Bautista told council the tanks had not been filled and that moving them to public works would allow the city to use them to stage fuel in advance of storms or other disasters. He said the tanks could be moved by public works staff and that temporary power hookups could be used until a permanent electrical installation is completed. Council asked about fuel logging accuracy; staff said the relocated tanks would use card/key systems to track fuel use.
A council motion to approve the removal and relocation of the diesel tanks to public works passed by voice vote.
Ending: Public works will move the tanks, install temporary hookups, and plan for permanent placement and electrical work; staff will ensure fuel tracking and logging is in place.
