BROOKSHIRE, Texas ' At the Sept. 4 meeting the city's contracted tax-collection agent, Assessments of the Southwest (ASW), presented its final monthly report, explained the transition of tax collection duties to the county tax assessor-collector, and described the final-wire process to transfer remaining balances to the city.
ASW reported an August beginning balance of $92,018.02, collections of $25,109.57 and disbursements of $6,364.13 leaving a balance of $110,763.46. ASW also noted that the county would not prepare the city's truth-in-taxation worksheet next year and the city should plan to contract or assign that work.
Separately, council considered an item to appoint a city representative to the Waller County Appraisal District board. A councilmember moved to appoint Alderman McDade to the Waller County Appraisal District board; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
