Boat removed from front yard; fines outstanding, lien remains in place

The special magistrate reported Aug. 14, 2025, that the boat which had been parked in the front yard at the property owned by Matthew and Kimberly McAlhany has been removed and the violation cured, but outstanding fines remain and the lien previously recorded against the property remains in effect.

City staff told the magistrate the compliance had been achieved but that fines assessed in prior proceedings total $7,850 and had not been paid. The magistrate noted that he would submit a compliance-after-hearing report and that the lien remains on the property. No new fines or actions were imposed at the hearing; the matter remains on the enforcement docket for record-keeping and possible further collection action by the city.

Why it matters: although the immediate zoning/appearance violation has been cured, unpaid enforcement fines and a recorded lien affect the property’s title and remain a financial obligation until satisfied or otherwise resolved by the city or by petition to the city commission.

Next steps: city staff will file the compliance paperwork and the outstanding lien/fines remain subject to the city’s collection procedures.
