During the Aug. 25 budget workshop the Hollywood Park City Council appointed Jeanette (Jeanette/Janette in meeting packet) Huggins to serve as the town’s city secretary.
Council members praised Huggins’s performance as interim city secretary. In discussion, a council member said she had been "very impressed" with the hiring process that led to the recommendation and described Huggins as dependable and experienced with office software; another council member praised Huggins’s work saying the town would be "lucky to have her." The council member who nominated Huggins moved for appointment and a colleague seconded; the council approved the appointment by voice vote with the mayor calling for the ayes and none recorded in opposition.
Why it matters: The city secretary is the municipal officer responsible for keeping official records, preparing agendas and minutes, and coordinating statutory notices. Appointing the interim official to the permanent role preserves continuity at the town’s administrative center.
Ending: The council’s approval makes Jeanette Huggins the city secretary; she will assume the duties as the council completes personnel paperwork and any necessary onboarding.
