Superintendent outlines staggered start and registration surge as Fremont schools reopen

The superintendent told the Fremont City Schools Board that school begins tomorrow and that the district has been handling a heavy registration load in recent weeks. “We are averaging 40 to 45 appointments a week for the last 3 weeks,” the superintendent said, and noted staff are working early mornings and evenings to accommodate families.
To ease students into new buildings, the district will use a staggered opening: Tuesday, Aug. 26 for kindergarten exceptions and select grades (grades 1–5, grade 6 only, and grade 9 only at the middle and high school); Wednesday and Thursday to stagger half of kindergarten and add certain grades; and Friday, Aug. 29 as the first day when all students K–12 are in the buildings.
The superintendent said families should check ParentSquare and final forms to ensure contact information is current. “I did also wanna just take a moment. I'd sent my first ParentSquare notification this afternoon at 05:00,” the superintendent said.
The board did not take formal action; the report was informational and focused on start-of-year logistics and staffing for registration.
