Long-range planning committee reports Oakcrest sign bids, extended-year program success

A board member reporting for the HHart District 3 Long Range Planning committee told the board on Aug. 11 that summer building and grounds projects are complete or in progress and that three bids have been received for new Oakcrest signage.
The committee reported it is discussing financial assistance for a preschool and reviewed summer projects included in the board packet. The board member said the district s extended-year program served more than 500 students in roughly 53 classes; 91% of parents responding to a program survey said they saw a definite impact on students. The committee is considering expanding the program to six weeks next year.
Upcoming community events the committee listed include a golf invitational Sept. 8, a 5K run/walk on Sept. 13 and a one-night special event Nov. 8 (details not specified in the meeting). The committee also asked for a board volunteer to serve on the Executive Board; meetings are held Thursdays at 8:30 a.m.
