County to move $700,000 in budget authority to complete historic poor farm commercial kitchen work

Finance staff told the Board of Supervisors on July 23 they will seek a resolution to shift $700,000 in budget authority from the Secondary Roads capital project to the Historic Poor Farm capital project to cover outstanding costs for a commercial kitchen.
Dana Asherbinder, Finance Department, said the capital plan line with a $1.2 million figure had not increased for two years and that the commercial kitchen project’s budget authority lapsed on June 30, leaving unpaid bills. She described the transfer as moving existing budget authority, not new money, to allow the county to pay outstanding invoices. She said the item would be on the board agenda for consideration the following day.
Supervisors asked clarifying questions and staff confirmed this move affects only budget authority (not new cash) and is a routine fiscal housekeeping step taken during the budgeting process.
