Trustees ratify assistant principal appointments at Bowie, Gunn and Fine Arts Dual Language Academy

Arlington Independent School District trustees on Sept. 4 ratified administrative appointments for assistant principals at Bowie High School and Gunn Junior High School and acknowledged other appointments for the Fine Arts Dual Language Academy, voting 6–0 to approve the hires.

Superintendent Dr. Smith introduced Jammad Williams as the new assistant principal at Bowie High School. Williams, who holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees, addressed the board and thanked family, colleagues and his new Bowie school community. Trustees welcomed him to the district.

Trustees also welcomed Nora Guillen as assistant principal at Gunn Junior High School. Guillen described her background in dual-language immersion, literacy instruction and fine arts; she told the board she was excited to join Arlington ISD and introduced family members who joined by video.

The board voted to ratify the appointments (6 in favor, 0 opposed). No items were pulled from the consent agenda for separate discussion. The ratification required no further action at the meeting.
