County adopts two ordinances funding site work and construction for new multipurpose building

The Morris County Board of County Commissioners adopted two ordinances on second and final reading to fund construction and site work for a county multipurpose building.

Ordinance 2025-35 appropriates $1,111,219.18 from the capital surplus fund for construction costs for the county multipurpose building, Department of Public Works. The board opened and closed a public hearing with no speakers and then moved to adopt the ordinance.

Ordinance 2025-36 appropriates $500,000 from the reserve for road and bridge fund for site work related to construction of the same multipurpose building. The public hearing on that ordinance was also opened and closed with no public comment before a motion to adopt on second and final reading.

Both ordinances were put to roll call votes after the motions and seconds; the clerk recorded affirmative votes by the commissioners present and the ordinances were adopted on second and final reading. The transcript records no recorded 'no' votes during the roll calls. No amendment or funding condition was announced during the meeting.

The board did not receive public comment on either ordinance at the hearings held during the meeting.
