Residents report clogged crossings, high water at two Duplin County locations; commissioners to contact NCDOT

During public comment on July 14, commissioners took note of two drainage complaints and said they would pass the details to the North Carolina Department of Transportation. Commissioner Edwards reported a citizen’s concern about high water at the intersection of Cedar Fork Church Road and Fountain Town Road, describing it as a creek crossing potentially affected by beaver dams. Commissioner Barnard raised a separate concern about a crossline north of Adams Springs Road on Grama Road that is backing up water into a resident’s yard.

The chair said staff will contact NCDOT to investigate. Commissioners asked staff to gather precise addresses and additional details so DOT can evaluate and address blocked culverts or other drainage issues.

No formal action was taken beyond directing staff to notify NCDOT and follow up with the board.
