Vanessa Husky, chair of the Jackson County Justice and Law Enforcement Committee, said the committee should recommend adoption of Resolution 22016, which would award a contract to Corwin Motors of Springfield, LLC, under Missouri state contract MC250182004 for 16 new vehicles for use by the Sheriff’s Office at an actual cost to the county of $688,448.
Mike Miller, staff member, told the committee the purchase is already approved in the budget and that the county is selecting V8 engines over V6 because of ongoing mechanical problems with the V6 units. "They are approximately about $800 more than the V sixes. We're going with the V eights, and we kept it under the budget," Miller said. He added that the change is expected to reduce repair costs associated with the V6 vehicles.
The resolution references the state of Missouri contract MC250182004; the committee record shows the award to Corwin Motors of Springfield, LLC. Committee members moved and seconded the recommendation, and the committee voted in favor to recommend the resolution for adoption.
No amendments, contingency conditions, or competing bids were recorded in the committee discussion. The transcript indicates the purchase replaces vehicles being declared surplus under the other committee item and that department staff framed the change as a budgeted, fleet-replacement decision.
