Troy council adopts annual tax levy resolution required by county auditor

The Troy City Council on Sept. 2 adopted Resolution R48-20-25, certifying the City of Troy's tax levies for the fiscal year beginning Jan. 1, 2026, to the Miami County auditor.

Clerk and staff explained that the resolution is an annual requirement and that Miami County's auditor requires the certified levies prior to Oct. 1, 2025, which was the stated rationale for adopting the measure as an emergency. The council suspended readings and adopted the resolution by roll-call vote.

The resolution is procedural and reflects the levies as determined by the budget commission; the meeting record did not list levy rates or aggregate levy amounts during the public council reading. The clerk and finance staff normally provide detailed levy figures and the certified form to the county auditor following adoption.
