Votes at a glance: council approves multiple procurement and budget items, routine transmittals

At its Oct. 21 meeting the Ocala City Council approved a range of routine procurement, cooperative purchasing and budget items, and adopted several resolutions by roll-call vote. Staff described the items as operational actions needed to maintain city services, fleet, utility operations and airport projects.

Key approvals included purchases and agreements for time clocks (UKG in-touch devices), bulk engine oil, cooperative purchasing agreements for parts and vehicles, 106 vehicles and equipment for city departments, maintenance agreements for specialized equipment, emergency audio-visual warning devices, meter purchases to support planned development, and broadband bandwidth purchases for the city fiber network. Staff said the meter and vehicle purchases support anticipated growth and operational continuity.

The council also adopted multiple airport-related budget resolutions and agreements to appropriate FAA grant funding for Runway 36 safety-area grading and terminal-apron reconstruction, approved design-inspection task work orders, and awarded a construction contract for the terminal apron rehabilitation after competitive procurement.

Staff presentations noted: UKG discontinued support for older time-clock hardware and the city must upgrade to maintain compatibility; meter purchases were budgeted in the FY26 capital plan to support planned development; and several cooperative-purchase agreements were used to obtain favorable pricing. The council approved each item by roll call; few items drew debate.
