The Columbia County School Board on Sept. 9 approved personnel items listed on the meeting agenda and addendum and accepted the consent agenda. Board members also recognized a $20,000 donation from Ring Power for a forklift.
During board member remarks, Mr. Hudson said the district should formally recognize Ring Power for its donation: "Thanks to Ring Power for a $20,000 donation for a forklift," he said. The board approved the personnel items and the consent agenda by voice vote.
Superintendent Mr. Cooley addressed staffing and recruitment: when asked whether vacancies had been filled, he said, "We're pretty much, we're full. We have a couple of jobs that some people just left this week, but on that we're pretty full." He also asked for community help with upcoming recruitment events, noting that events will run starting in September through Oct. 11 and that the district is seeking staff for all schools.
Board member Miss Hill publicly thanked finance director Bonnie Penner for her presentation earlier in the meeting. No members of the public spoke during the public-comment period for the action items.
