The county's IT representative told the Administration Legal Affairs Committee on Sept. 10 that the Central Square 911 system is scheduled to go live next week and that staff have been meeting weekly to avoid problems. "The Central Square 911 project goes live next week," the IT Director said.
IT staff reported they have received a new server (ST Coil 1) and are in the process of setup and that a phone rollout will follow once configurations are completed. Staff cautioned that some nursing-center configurations had to be removed from county phone setups because the nursing center is no longer part of county-managed services.
Separately, IT staff updated the committee on the county's contract with its new copier vendor, Access Systems. They said the vendor will switch overage billing from monthly to biannual (every six months) and will come on site to collect machine readings; the county had prepaid for some overages under the contract and expects those to be applied as credits. IT staff also said the vendor's automatic supply-order feature was not functioning as promised, so they asked the vendor to provide QR-coded stickers to make manual ordering easier.
Committee members expressed frustration that vendors sometimes overpromise during sales and that county staff end up resolving implementation issues. No committee action was taken; IT staff said they will continue to monitor the 911 go-live and vendor follow-up on copier overages and supply-order functionality.
Ending: IT staff will return with updates on the Central Square 911 go-live and any outstanding invoice or service-resolution items from the copier vendor.
