Board approves backyard swimming-pool setback variance at 672 Stone Oak Drive

The Seminole County Board of Adjustment approved a variance to reduce the rear-yard setback from 10 feet to 4 feet to permit an in-ground swimming pool at 672 Stone Oak Drive in the Astra Grama at Lake Forest subdivision. Staff described the pool as 36.6 feet by 13.6 feet and noted a letter of support from the next-door neighbor at 668 Stone Oak Drive. Applicant Brett Grubb said the lot’s dimensions limited placement — the backyard is narrower than ideal — and that the proposed size will still provide exercise space for his two children. Board members asked whether the pool matched neighboring properties and staff confirmed adjacent yards had similar pool placements. The board approved the variance on a motion by Mr. Wright, seconded by Mr. Beagley, by voice vote.
