The Garfield County Board of County Commissioners approved a special‑event liquor permit for the 5Point Film Festival’s annual fundraiser, to be held Oct. 1 at Spring Creek Ranch.
Aisha Weinhold, newly hired executive director of the Carbondale‑based nonprofit 5Point Film Festival, and county staff described the event and the organization’s alcohol control plan. Weinhold said the fundraiser will feature a live auction, paddle raise and dinner to support the festival’s educational and outreach work in Garfield County.
The nut graf: 5Point provided a written alcohol‑control plan and a lease letter from Spring Creek Ranch that suspends the venue’s license for the day. Weinhold and staff said the festival will restrict alcohol to guests aged 21 and older, use wristbands, employ TIP‑certified servers, and provide safe‑travel options for attendees.
County staff swore in Weinhold for the public hearing, confirmed required notice had been posted at the event location, and recommended approval. The commissioners closed the public hearing and voted to approve the application; the chair will sign the permit document as required.
The permit covers the venue areas specified in the event lease (the main farmhouse and adjacent lawn). No county enforcement action was recorded at the meeting beyond the standard permit conditions for special events.
