District reports one class over guideline; dual‑language kindergarten has full‑time aide

Scott Sims reported to the Friendship Board of Trustees on class‑size staffing and exceptions for prekindergarten through fourth grade. "We staff our pre k, through second grade is 22 to 1, third grade is 23 to 1, and fourth grade is 24 to 1," Sims said. He reported the district currently has one classroom over the expected ratio: a dual‑language kindergarten class at Little Bend that is 24 to 1 but includes a full‑time teaching assistant "to mitigate that."

Sims also stated that Friendship ISD is a District of Innovation and therefore is exempt from submitting class‑size waivers under state procedures. The report was informational; trustees did not take further action on the item during the meeting.
