The Manitowoc Common Council unanimously appointed Jody Brey to fill the vacant District 4 aldermanic seat and administered the oath of office at the September meeting.
Council President Michael Cummings opened nominations for the Committee of the Whole recommendation and moved to appoint Jody Brey to fill the vacancy. With no additional nominations, the council closed nominations and cast a unanimous ballot for Brey. The council said “all those in favor? Aye. Opposed? Motion carried unanimously.”
The city clerk then swore in Brey with the standard oath to support the U.S. and Wisconsin constitutions and to faithfully discharge the duties of the office. Council leadership immediately assigned Brey to the standing committees on which the previous District 4 representative served; the mayor listed Brey’s committee assignments during the meeting record.
The transcript records alternate spellings during the swearing‑in colloquy; the council record and subsequent roll call refer to the incoming alder as Jody Brey. The council also confirmed committee and commission appointments later in the meeting, and Brey’s name appears on the roster for Finance, Public Infrastructure, and Public Safety committees as announced by the mayor and council president.
