The City of Alpharetta Design Review Board on Sept. 19 approved a monument sign for Abbey Hall Interiors for a storefront at 54 Roswell Street.
Board members voted 6-0 to approve the sign as presented, with a condition that the base of the sign be landscaped with a mix of evergreen plants and seasonal annuals and that one ground uplight be provided for the sign.
Abbey Hall representative Abigail Alexander told the board the proposed sign is double‑faced, 5 feet tall and 4 feet 8 inches wide, fabricated from aluminum with a bronze‑colored post and base and brass‑colored lettering. Alexander said the letter heights will be 3 inches for “Abbey Hall Interiors” and 8 inches for the shop identifier, and the letter thickness will be a quarter‑inch. She also said the landscaped planting would be changed seasonally and that she would confirm whether irrigation is present at the site.
Staff and board discussion focused on plant selection and maintenance. A board member asked whether the landscaped bed would include a mixture of evergreen material for year‑round structure along with annuals for seasonal color; Alexander said that was the applicant’s plan and that she would confirm irrigation details. There was no public comment on the application.
Motion and vote: The motion to approve DRB250031 as presented — including the landscaping requirement — was made by “Mister Swain” and seconded by “Mister Owen.” The motion carried, 6-0.
The project now moves to any required permitting steps; the record shows final landscape details and irrigation status were left for the applicant to confirm with staff.
