The Norfolk County Commission authorized the county director Sept. 17 to sign a three‑year intermunicipal agreement to provide weights and measures services to the town of Dedham at $30,000 per year. County staff described the agreement as the same standard agreement the county uses with other municipal partners and said Dedham requested two small changes, including a requirement that inspectors be uniformed and carry proper identification.
County staff noted Dedham’s higher fee was driven in part by a larger number of oil trucks in that town than in others; the county currently has similar agreements with Randolph, Franklin, Needham, Canton and Westwood. The commission voted to authorize the county director to sign the agreement; the motion carried on a voice vote with the transcript recording "All in favor? Aye."
County staff said they plan to continue soliciting neighboring communities (including Dover and Plainville) and to send solicitation letters to additional towns this fall. The agreement was presented to the commission by county staff identified in the record as Mister Buckley; the record shows appreciation for coordination with Dedham town leadership, including Dedham Town Manager Leon Goodwin.
