The County Board of Trustees voted Sept. 11 to appropriate an additional $800,000 from the township motor-fuel tax fund balance to cover expenses from additional projects submitted by road commissioners. Motion by Betty, seconded by Paul; the motion passed. Amy (county highway department staff) told trustees the additional appropriation is necessary because the amount budgeted for 2025 did not cover the extra projects road commissioners requested this year, and that the fund balance has capacity to cover the appropriation. She said the extra work was varied by township but that seal coating and spray patching were among the largest components. Trustees described the work as improving roads and delivering value to constituents. The county highway department will transfer the funds into operational expenditure lines to pay for the projects.
