The School District U‑46 Board of Education approved several operations and services contracts Friday, including a major transportation software upgrade, speech and language services for specialized student services, and technology purchases for students and school safety.
Board members approved a proposed contract with Tyler Technologies for a student transportation routing software upgrade in the amount of $939,696. District staff said the vendor will provide training and implementation support and that the procurement is included in the 2025–26 operations fund budget.
The board also approved specialized student services contracts for speech and language therapy with a list of agencies and independent contractors not to exceed $3,084,840 for the fiscal year; administration read the providers and dollar amounts into the record. Staff said this expenditure will be charged to the education fund and included in the 2025–26 budget.
Other approved work‑session items included a purchase of student iPads from Apple Education, $125,150 (for specialized student services), and a proposal from Alpha Prime Communications for radio replacements in central schools and the Dream Academy totaling $80,604.76; both items were presented as included in the 2025–26 budget.
Board members asked clarifying questions about transition plans for the routing software and expressed support for the technology upgrades; no public opposition was recorded in the meeting minutes. Administration indicated the contracts are charged to the stated funds and will be implemented by the operations and student services departments.
