At its Oct. 6 meeting the McKeown Collection Commission received an update on docent participation and upcoming exhibitions and took two procedural votes.
Commissioner Beecher reported that an exhibit titled "Riverbank," co-curated by Arc Solano and Gavin Piedra, will be on view and that a public walk tied to the exhibit is scheduled for the coming Friday; the exhibit includes work by more than 20 artists in two-dimensional and small sculptural forms. Beecher said the local Vallejo Gem Society expressed particular interest because of jade on display. Commissioners also heard that a November exhibit by local artist Gilbert Johnson is scheduled; Johnson had not yet provided a title for the show.
Staff and commissioners clarified Brown Act guidance for attendance at public events. As one speaker summarized, commissioners may attend public events together so long as they do not "discuss items that are under consideration by the commission" while at the event; commissioners said this keeps the attendance from violating the Brown Act.
On procedural business the commission approved the Oct. 6 agenda and the Sept. 17, 2025 special-meeting minutes by roll call votes of 4 to 0. The roll-call in both cases recorded Chair Trumper, Commissioner Tahima, Commissioner Beecher and Commissioner Kent as voting "Aye." The meeting adjourned at 5:15 p.m.; the commission set its next meeting for Dec. 1.
