Council approves demolition as soon as legally possible for fire-damaged structure at 2656 Old Mendon Road

Bossier City Council voted to demolish the fire-damaged structure at 2656 Old Mendon Road as soon as legally possible after staff reported no repairs and persistent trespassing.

The decision matters because the building, condemned May 20, 2025, remains unsafe and the city must resolve the unmaintained fire-damaged property to protect public safety and reduce liability.

Philip Coleman of Property Standards told the council the structure had been condemned on May 20, 2025, following a substantial fire on March 10, 2021. Coleman said inspections show no repair work and that people have continued accessing the building. He recommended demolition.

Gagan Pugh, appointed as curator for unrepresented property owners, said records list the owner as J K G J K J Holdings LLC. Pugh said certified letters sent to two addresses produced no response. Given the inability to locate an operational owner or agent, the council approved a motion to proceed with demolition “as soon as legally possible.” The motion was seconded by Councilman Cliff Smith and recorded as carried.
