Resident urges city to investigate standing water, potholes on 800 block of Howard Street

Peggy Alexander, a Jacksonville resident of 809 Howard Street, addressed the council during public comment at the Sept. 9 meeting to report recurring potholes and standing water on the 800 block of Howard Street.

Alexander said residents believed the problem had been resolved previously but that it has returned and that water stands in holes near houses. She asked the city to inspect the street and determine the cause and possible remedies. Council referred the item for staff follow-up; a council member identified Councilman Randall Chandler as the representative for that precinct and suggested Alexander provide contact information so staff could respond.

No formal action was taken during the meeting; staff indicated staff will follow up with the resident to investigate the drainage and pavement concerns.
