South Canton resident objects to extended-stay motel next to childcare center

During the meeting's public input period, Frank Torino of 145 Hidden Lake Circle spoke about the property at 160 Prominence Point Parkway and objected to a WoodSpring Suites extended-stay motel being built next to a childcare center.

"I have a child in the city... I live in South Can. And not only does it have implications for the safety of these children... extended stay hotels are known crime hot spots," Torino said, adding concerns about building appearance and neighborhood safety. He also raised separate concerns about heavy equipment parking on Ash Street and the lack of sidewalks there.

Torino said the development could depress nearby property values and said residents in South Canton feel overlooked: "We're gonna start gathering the residents down there... I'm coming to represent everybody because we've been forgotten." He closed by saying those residents will organize and he yielded his time.
