Council conditionally approves liquor and tobacco licenses for new Belknap Street store

The Superior Common Council on Aug. 19 granted conditional approval to a Class A beer and Class C wine-and-liquor license and a cigarette, tobacco and electronic vaping device retail license for WIC Store Incorporated at 406 Belknap Street. Approvals are contingent on police, health and fire department sign-offs; the fire department had granted approval earlier the same day.

Councilors noted the business is an ongoing convenience store under new ownership; it previously operated under names including Joe’s Quick Mart and Holiday. Councilor Moffitt moved to approve the licenses; Councilor Sweeney and Councilor Herrick seconded the respective motions. Both motions passed by voice vote.
