Council reviews paint options for City of Palms parking garage and Midtown identity markers; majority preference for modern slim design

Staff offered council three color palettes for the City of Palms parking garage and three sign/identity concepts for Midtown corridors.

The Midtown identity concepts were presented as three options: a slim internally lit monument matching selected street furniture, a shorter masonry/bricked option and a stainless‑steel option with cursive street names. Council members favored Option 1 — a six‑to‑seven‑foot, narrow internally lit marker that matches Midtown street furniture — citing readability and replicability. Councilmember Bob and others raised concerns that the brick option would be harder to repair if damaged.

For the parking garage, staff presented a return‑to‑original “salsa” palette, a neutral option matching the Calusa Sound Event Center, and a tan/yellow family. Several council members said a fresh coat of any of the options was preferable to the current faded condition; one councilmember recommended using the Calusa Sound palette to tie the structure visually to nearby facilities. Council asked staff to coordinate the chosen palette and potential public art treatments with the Public Art Committee.

No formal vote was taken; staff will proceed with the direction provided by council.
