Homer Glen trustees table $7,500 restaurant improvement grant pending itemized scope

Trustees voted to table consideration of a $7,500 reimbursement under the Commercial Building Improvement Grant Program for Fil Fil LLC d/b/a Fil Fil Mediterranean at 12326 W. 143rd Street.

Trustee Reinders said he had “a lot of problems” with the request as presented, noting that the village’s grant program does not pay for restaurant equipment and that bids submitted lacked an itemized breakdown. Reinders said the plumbing bid (KG Plumbing & Sewer) listed a lump-sum of $12,575 without line-item detail and argued that a grease trap is restaurant equipment, which the village generally does not fund. Reinders moved to table the item and provided reasons he wanted an itemized scope of work and pricing; the motion to table passed on roll call after a second.

The clerk recorded the table vote with mixed answers: Trustee Reinders Aye, Trustee Holzhauser Aye, Trustee Mueller Aye, Trustee LaPorte No, Trustee Mason Aye, Trustee Schaller No. The board did not set a date to remove the item from the table; staff said they would call the petitioner the next day.
