Commission appoints Susan Shackett to Housing Board of Appeals and Ron Berndt to Historic District Study Committee

At the Aug. 11 meeting the Birmingham City Commission appointed two residents to advisory boards.

Appointments: Susan Shackett (870 Purdy Street) was appointed as a regular member of the Housing Board of Appeals to complete a three‑year term expiring 05/04/2028. Ron Berndt (2182 Lost Tree Way, Bloomfield Township) was appointed as a regular member of the Historic District Study Committee to complete a three‑year term expiring 06/25/2028. Berndt described his interest and historical/architectural experience; the commission approved his nomination after the city attorney confirmed that a nonresident with relevant expertise may serve when no qualified residents are available.

Both appointments were approved by voice vote; the new members were sworn in by the clerk.
