Local author Devon Miller praised by council for youth literacy and community work

Devon Miller, a St. Petersburg author who published his first children’s book at age 11, briefed the council on his work distributing books to children, partnering with local organizations, and supporting hospital patients.

Miller described his early publishing history (his Mr. Tickety Tuck Clock series), subsequent books and a campaign to support indie Black authors and donate books to local schools. He said proceeds and fundraisers have supported Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital and other local charities; he recounted participating in Reading with the Rays events and serving as a regional spelling-bee judge.

Councilmembers congratulated Miller on his community work and on being designated a Sunshine Ambassador by the city. Miller and councilmembers exchanged gifts and photos; no formal council action was taken.
