Board approves personnel report; recognizes several retirees

At its Oct. 8 meeting the School City of Mishawaka Board of School Trustees approved the personnel report and related employment recommendations and recognized four retiring employees.

District staff said the personnel report recommended appointing one certified and 15 classified positions, two volunteer recommendations, and recorded one certified and three classified retirements. The board recognized the retirements of Gina Markey (37 years of service), Janie Ewald (with School City of Mishawaka since 2008), Charlie Ware (bus driver, five years), and Elizabeth Layman (program assistant, employed since February 2025).

The personnel report and the employment approvals required under Indiana code were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote without additional comment recorded in the meeting minutes.
