Council authorizes mayor to sign addendum to city administrator contract after executive session

After two executive sessions (economic development and non-elected personnel), the Lansing City Council returned to open session and authorized the mayor to sign Addendum 9 to the city administrator’s employment contract. The addendum provides a financial incentive based on the results of the administrator’s performance evaluation, according to the motion approved by roll call.

The council entered executive session earlier under exceptions cited in the meeting for confidential financial and personnel matters (KSA 75-4319(b)(4) and KSA 75-4319(b)(1)); staff reported there was no binding action taken during the executive sessions. After returning to open session, Councilmember Robinson moved and the council voted unanimously to authorize the mayor to execute Addendum 9.

No dollar amount was announced during the open meeting. The vote followed the city’s stated personnel procedures and the statutory exceptions cited for executive session. City staff will reflect the authorized addendum in the administrator’s contract paperwork and make any required personnel records updates per city policy.
