Airport to lease ARFF vehicle for three months while city apparatus is repaired, at $65,821.37

Hot Springs airport officials asked the Board Oct. 7 to approve a three‑month temporary lease of an aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF) vehicle from Siddons and Martin Emergency Group while the city's ARFF apparatus remains out of service for significant repairs.

Airport staff said FAA regulations require specialized firefighting equipment at the airport. The city's ARFF vehicle is currently out of service and expected to remain unavailable for an extended period; staff requested a three‑month lease costing $65,821.37 and said Siddons and Martin hopes to transport the unit to Hot Springs early next week. Staff said the lease would keep the airport in FAA compliance while repairs continue.

The ordinance to waive competitive bidding and approve the lease is on the regular meeting agenda; staff said they will request a budget amendment to cover the lease amount.
