City of Stuart gives timetable for pavement, lift‑station and water reclamation upgrades

Peter Hunan, director of utilities and engineering for the City of Stuart, briefed the joint meeting on several city capital projects and their anticipated completion dates.

Hunan said pavement maintenance for a designated Zone 3 is in design with construction proposed to begin next summer and that pavement work typically occurs in summer months. He said the signalization project at the new Fire Station No. 3 is under construction and expected to finish in November. The Conquistador Lift Station rehabilitation — including electrical control panel upgrades, wet well rehab, piping replacement and odor control — is under construction with an anticipated completion in March 2026.

Hunan reported installation of six fire hydrants along St. Lucie Boulevard is underway and slated for completion in December. At the city’s water reclamation facility, headworks rehabilitation work (equipment upgrades, coatings and odor control) is under construction and expected to conclude in January 2026. He also noted that the Veterans Memorial Park amphitheater and landscaping/paver work are under construction with an expected completion in March 2026.

Hunan concluded by asking whether the commissioners had questions and then turned the meeting to village speakers.
