The Board of Public Works on Aug. 12 approved a service agreement with Groomer Construction for the Blue Ridge ADA ramp project, covering repair and construction of 24 curb ramps, associated curb and sidewalk sections, and asphalt patching as needed.
Adam Wason of Public Works presented the item on behalf of Joe Van Devener in the street division. He said the city solicited RFQs and that Groomer Construction was the lowest responsible and responsive bidder. The meeting record shows the bid amount as $149,987 and the staff report lists 24 curb ramp locations.
Why it matters: ADA curb ramps and accessible sidewalks are part of the city's efforts to meet accessibility standards and maintain pedestrian routes. The board approved the service agreement by roll call; recorded votes were in favor by Roach and Board Vice President Elizabeth Carone.
The project will be administered by the street division and scheduled per standard procurement and construction processes.
