The DeKalb County Board of Commissioners discussed a request July 25 to pay an annual $500 contribution to Lance Lakes RC&D Land Trust but voted to table the item until staff can provide more information.
Commissioners said they had not paid into the program since 2022 and that the request packet did not make clear what the organization does or how the county’s contribution would be used. One commissioner suggested inviting the county representative (Jeff Conrad, noted in the materials as the DeKalb representative) or a soil-and-water official to explain the program’s activities and stewardship uses for donated funds before authorizing payment.
A motion to table the contribution request for further information was approved. Commissioners said they prefer clearer documentation of the trust’s activities and a conversation with a representative before spending taxpayer funds on the request.
