Utah County GOP launches podcast to explain local politics, recruit volunteers and host tough conversations

The Utah County Republican Party launched a podcast to explain local civic processes, recruit volunteers and create a forum for “difficult conversations” on county and state issues, the hosts said on the inaugural episode.

Christy, chair of the Utah County Republican Party, said the podcast’s goal is to reach people on their terms and to include “relevant subjects, whether it’s between leadership or, hopefully, as many elected officials as we can have on.” “Our goal is … we don’t want to shy away from having difficult conversations civilly,” she said.

Chuck, vice chair of the party, said the podcast will help listeners identify which issues are set at the federal level and which are decided locally and urged residents to focus energy where they can make an impact. “If we can find the point of disagreement and we can put language to it, like, that’s part of what I envision for this podcast,” Chuck said.

Both hosts said the show will include practical how‑to segments — for example, explaining how to file for office — and spotlight local actors such as house chairs, precinct chairs and elected officials. Christy said the program will also be used for outreach to younger voters, including interviews with students and recent graduates.

The hosts described the podcast as part of a broader outreach strategy that includes the party website, rotating central‑committee locations and the Elephant Society, a donation program that provides social events and speakers. Listeners were directed to ucrp.org for event details.
