Board authorizes CivicPlus contract for social media archiving; startup $10,225, annual $9,431.60

The Southaven Board of Aldermen authorized city staff to finalize a contract with CivicPlus to archive and store city social media posts.

City staff said the CivicPlus service will centralize social media archiving, which the city needs because some social posts are subject to public-record requirements. The initial setup and implementation charge is $10,225; the recurring annual price listed at the meeting is $9,431.60. The standard package covers one social account; staff said additional fees apply because the city maintains two accounts (including the police account and an operations account).

The contract will include an addendum required by city law. Staff said the addendum modifies the base agreement to include city-required terms. Michael Norris was authorized to sign the contract on the city’s behalf.

Alderman Hoots moved to approve the contract; Alderman Gallagher seconded. The board approved the contract on roll call.
