Board approves demolition of 5411 Stony Brook Drive after staff cites collapsing rear addition and stripped wiring

The Building Standards Board on Oct. 9 ordered demolition of the property at 5411 Stony Brook Drive in City Council District 4 after staff described water‑damaged roof decking, a collapsing rear room addition, stripped electrical wiring and an accessory structure with missing siding.

Stephanie Sanchez, dangerous premises officer for the City of San Antonio Development Services Department, presented inspection photos taken Sept. 10 and Oct. 6 showing missing drywall, interior trash and debris, holes in ceilings and a rear room whose roof is failing. Sanchez said electrical meter tampering and removed wiring left the property without active electrical service. Staff concluded the main structure and a small accessory structure both present hazards and recommended demolition under City Code Article 8, Chapter 6.

No owner or representative appeared at the hearing. Board members moved to declare the property a public nuisance and order demolition within 30 days; the motion required the site to be secured and cleared of trash and debris and passed unanimously.
